What is the best way I can support the troops?
We need volunteers to attend meetings, events, collect or make cards of support, donations of toiletries and food, magazine collections, and monetary donations for shipping costs and supplies. Is Support our Soldiers a non-profit organization?
Support our Soldiers is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization. 100% of your donation is tax deductible for federal income tax purposes. If you make an online donation you’ll receive a receipt you can use for tax purposes. If you mail a donation and would like a receipt for tax purposes please ask for it at the time of your donation.
How does SOS send items to the troops?
We send directly to military contacts overseas we do no generic dropship to any soldier via USPS. Being able to communicate with the soldier allows us to custom make boxes to actually directly meet the needs of that unit so we can better utilize our resources, donations, and have a greater impact on the deployed troops. We have a general list of items we use regularly and will post on our Facebook page or website as new or updated needs arise. They can be shipped to our office or dropped at one of our local drop-off locations.

How can I get involved?

How much does it cost to fill & ship a box?
You can expect costs between $38 and $48 per Care Box. The postage for the USPS large flat rate APO/FPO Box (11x9x6 ) is about $18. It costs about $20-$30 to fill the box with snacks, toiletries, activities, magazines, etc.
Can I send pictures of my efforts?
Yes! Please send any pictures or feedback of your efforts to
info@supportoursoldier.com and we may post on our site for everyone to see.
How long does it take for a box to arrive to the troops?
It can vary depending on country and camp but generally is 5-10 days. There is no way to track once they are shipped but they will be returned to us if the soldier can no longer receive mail.
Am I able to come pack boxes at your location?
At this time we are not setup for outside groups to do so, but you are welcome to have a packing party yourself with friends, employees, etc. and deliver or we will pickup if in the area. Please see the Items Requested list to be sure needed items are included.
What do you do with items donated that cannot be used?
We pay it forward and share with our local food pantry or if appropriate take to local homeless shelters where many veterans are helped. Nothing is ever wasted and we always find a good source for usage.
